Write Short Note On Following - 1. Modem 2. WAN 3. Gateway 4. Bridge 5. Wi-fi

  1. Modem: Modem stands for modulator-demodulator. It is a hardware device that converts digital signals from a computer or other digital device into analog signals that can be transmitted over telephone lines. The modem at the receiving end converts the analog signals back into digital signals that can be read by the receiving device.

  2. WAN: WAN stands for Wide Area Network. It is a type of computer network that covers a large geographic area, such as a city, country, or even the entire world. WANs are typically used by large organizations to connect multiple sites together and enable communication and resource sharing between them.

  3. Gateway: A gateway is a network device that connects two or more different networks that use different protocols. It translates data between the two networks, allowing them to communicate with each other. A gateway can also provide security features such as firewalls to protect one network from another.

  4. Bridge: A bridge is a network device that connects two or more local area networks (LANs) together. It operates at the data link layer of the OSI model and forwards data between the networks based on their physical addresses.

  5. Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is a technology that enables wireless local area networking (WLAN). It allows devices to connect to a network without the need for physical cables, using radio waves instead. Wi-Fi is commonly used for internet access in homes, businesses, and public areas such as cafes, airports, and hotels.
