Disadvantages of Data Fragmentation
Fragmentation provides several disadvantages also which are as follows:Performance Degradation: The performance of global applications that require data from several fragments located at different sites may become slower and, therefore, performance may degrade.
Maintaining Integrity becomes difficult: Owing to data fragmentation, data and functional dependencies may be decomposed into different fragments that might be allocated to different sites across the network of a distributed system. In this situation, checking functional dependencies is very complicated and, consequently, maintaining integrity becomes very difficult.
